LookFantastic Box January 2017 – First Impressions

Seriously guys, the delays in parcel deliveries coming to Cyprus are getting ridiculous! I just received my January  LookFantastic box at the end of February! It’s a good thing that I actually liked the contents of this box and my excitement to receive it made me feel a tiny bit less annoyed by the whole delay.

The theme of January’s box was new adventures, new beauty discoveries and the refresh of our routines. I must say I really like the theme, especially given that this is the first box of the year. The fact that the box was also makeup heavy  made this a winner in my eyes.

Trifle Cosmetics Liquid Glow – Liquid Luminizer

I was very excited to receive this. It is a full size product and I don’t really have something like this in my collection. I wanted to try Trifle Cosmetics’ products and a liquid highlighter is a great start for getting to know the brand.

The description of the product describes the colour as a rosy hue, but when swatching at my hand the colour looks straight up pink. I must admit, at first it looked a bit scary, but when blended out it gives a very subtle glow. It will not give an out of this world shimmering highlight but it would be great for an everyday natural fresh look.

Pixi by Petra Brow Tamer

The second item, also full size, is a clear brow gel by Pixi. I don’t really use a brow gel, I find that my eyebrows stay in place whether I use one or not. I am curious to try it though, perhaps if I like it I will get into brow products a little bit more. The one thing I will say, I can see this getting really gross, really fast. I tried it on my brows only once and I can already see foundation remnants inside the not-so-clear-anymore gel.

Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Curl Mascara

The third full size makeup item in the box! I was really happy to see the inclusion of a mascara in the box since I actually needed to buy a new one. The product claims to “continuously curl the lashes throughout the day”. I’m curious to see how that works exactly. Once I run out of my current mascara, I will definitely try this and see if the claims are true, curled eyelashes are always nice to have.

Nuxe Lotion Tonique Douce – Gentle Toning Lotion

This came at the best possible time. I am travelling for work soon and toner is usually one of the things that don’t end up in my suitcase. This sample has exactly the appropriate size to justify taking it with me. Nuxe Gentle Toning Lotion claims to smooth and refresh the skin after makeup removal. It is suitable for sensitive skin and does not contain alcohol. It says it is targeted towards normal to dry skin, I hope it performs well on the oilier areas of my combo skin.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask

I’ve heard many great things about Briogeo lately, mainly in the YouTube world. This will be a good opportunity to try this without having to buy the full size, 35 euros for a hair mask seems a bit excessive. For this price, it better leave my hair silky smooth and instagram-worthy.

I would be more excited to receive this if I didn’t feel like this is a repetition. We’ve had a very similar product in December’s box with the inclusion of Philip Kingsley Elasticizer. They are at around the same price range, I guess I could use this opportunity for a comparison between the two.

The Vintage Cosmetic Company – Rose Gold Tweezers

I guess the tweezers go hand-in-hand with the Pixi brow gel. They have a slanted tip for more precision and they have a gorgeous rose gold colour. I tried them and they are ok, but I feel like Tweezerman tweezers have a more sharp and precise tip.  I’m thinking of putting them in my travel kit and keep using my Tweezerman ones for regular use at home. They really do look amazing though.

January’s box has definitely been very makeup-heavy. For this alone this month’s box has been a winner for me. With 3 full size products + a tool it is a great value for money, especially if you think that I will use every single product included in some way or another.

My only complain is the delay in receiving the actual package. Really, taking 2 months to deliver a parcel between two EU countries is unacceptable. Let’s hope this type of delays won’t happen again and I start getting my boxes on time.
