It is finally here! You cannot imagine how eager I was to receive this!
I am talking about the latest Limited edition box by LookFantastic, containing 8 beauty products. When the box was first announced, I pre-ordered it without a second thought, one reason being that it contains 6 full size products and the other that it contains a very nice mix of skincare, body care, haircare and makeup.
What I noticed with this box, before I even opened it, is how heavy it was. It has the same size as the typical monthly box, but it didn’t contain any filler paper inside as the products were filling the box completely.
Illamasqua Beyond Powder in shade OMG:
I’ll be honest, this product was the one that excited me the most and it was the first thing I grabbed once I opened the box. It is a stunning baked highlighter in a pretty champagne shade that looks very flattering on me, giving me a subtle glow. It isn’t glittery in any way and looks very natural on my skin. Illamasqua Beyond Powder comes in a HUGE packaging that surprised me. I don’t think anyone will ever hit pan on this, no matter how much use it gets.
High Definition Eye&Brow Palette in shade 003 – Vamp:
This is the second full-size makeup item of the box. The packaging is sturdy and black and it has a rubbery matte finish that feels very luxurious. It also contains a double ended brush that is surprising soft and good quality.
The palette itself contains 4 eyeshadows and a wax.
- Nude – A brow bone highlight shade. It is a true nude shade as it blends into my skin completely, to the point that I cannot see it when I try to swatch it. This could be used for blending out the edges of my eyshadow, and for correcting mistakes and mascara smudges on my browbone.
- Medium Brown – The name of the shadow is spot on. A cool-toned brown.
- Dark Brown – A dark brown with a reddish tone.
- Carbon – A dark grey shadow that can be used to mix with the other colours to get to the desired brow shade, or as a dark eyeshadow for a smokey eye.
- Wax – A clear brow setting wax
Personally, I don’t really spend the time to draw my eyebrows, so this palette will be used as a matte eyeshadow palette.
Lilah B. Divine Duo Lip & Cheek sample set in shades b.real , b.fearless and b.sassy:
This is the only mini sample size item of the box. The shades are:
- b.real – A light pink shade that would look very natural as a blush and a lovely nude on the lips
- b.fearless – A true red colour. I think it would be amazing on the lips but I am a little sceptical on how it would look on the cheeks.
- b.sassy – A bright pink shade. I think it would be really pretty both as a blush and as a lip colour.
I believe this is a nice selection of shades for a sampler, however I don’t like these types of samples since they are not easy to close once opened and not easy to store. I would have preferred only one shade in a deluxe sample with some kind of packaging that can be closed and reused multiple times.
I am still not sure whether this is supposed to be a self-tanner or not. It is described as giving the skin a “gradual glow” while being extremely moisturizing at the same time. I can confirm the moisturizing claim, not so sure about the “gradual glow” part. I will have to test it out more to see. What I can say already is that it has a strong scent that get too much after a while and it lingers.
A 50ml deluxe sample. It is a very nice and luxurious feeling hair oil that claims to condition hair while minimizing frizz and enhancing shine. I always wanted to try this oil since I heard amazing things about it, but I would be much more excited to receive this if a similar hair oil wasn’t included in the recent November box. On a first glance, the Kerastase oil is looks to be a more lavish product compared to the L’Oreal Mythic Oil but still it looks like a repetition to me.
Another hair product that I am most excited to try. It comes in a heavy glass bottle with a dropper that is not very travel friendly but I really love it so I am not going to complain. It is a leave-in serum that aims to repair split ends. I have long hair and split-ends have always been a problem so this is a definite win for me.
I have received this product before in subscription boxes and gift sets so I know I love it. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to get a full size before, so this is a wonderful addition to my skincare routine. It is an overnight treatment that gently exfoliates the skin and eliminates dullness and uneven complexion. This is not for everyday use, it can be a little too much for the skin (I have done that before and it irritated my skin). What works best for me is to use it a maximum of 3 times per week onto cleansed skin, before my moisturizer.
This is the sheet mask equivalent for lips. It claims to hydrate and plump lips while also tightening the skin to eliminate fine lines. The sachet included in the box contains 2 lips masks and retails for €10.45. I don’t know if I would ever spend 5 euros for 1 lip mask but it is an interesting concept and having it in the box gives me the perfect opportunity to try it.
This is by far my favourite subscription box I have received so far. It may be more expensive that regular LookFantastic boxes but I believe it is amazing value for money, the Illamasqua highlighter alone has a retail price almost equal to the price I paid for the whole box. I like the fact that it contains mostly full size products, and that it also keeps a balance between makeup, skincare, haircare, and body care. With the exception of the Decleor body milk, I can easily see myself using all products included in this box to their full extent.
